How COVID-19 Drove Innovation in Workplace Safety and Cabling Solutions

Excellence Wire's response to pandemic challenges: launching antibacterial cabling solutions designed to protect employees and enhance operational resilience in critical manufacturing environments.

Leading Through COVID-19 and Into the Future

How COVID Changed Us

We have taken dramatic actions to build business sustainability since the outbreak last January and the reopening of our factory in Ningbo on February 17th in 2020. We faced the need to solve multiple and competing priorities simultaneously. One of the toughest questions was how to keep the business running and provide workplace safety to protect our employees and families from infection. Not only were we able to be back in business 52 days earlier than the Wuhan lockdown, we had also made adjustments to prevent the virus transmission and to stabilize our operational capabilities.

Growth Strategy: How Technology Rises to Our Aspirations

To minimize the impact on public health and to limit disruptions to business, we saw opportunities for launching new services and innovating our business operations now more than ever.

Working Remotely

We have enhanced our computer softwares and hardwares to work from home, using better video conferencing equipment, enhancing network efficiency, and optimizing business process automation technology. We are endeavoring to make sure that social distancing has very little effect on us and, in the meanwhile, make changes that are going to shape the future of business.

Shifting to Digital Platforms and Online Sales Channels

Many tech events are going virtual this year, and so is ours. Apart from our official website, we are now on Taiwantrade and Computex Taipei Virtual 2021 as well. This is all thanks to the warm support from our potential customers all around the globe. In spite of the COVID-19 outbreak last year, the dramatic increase in online inquiries over the past year alone has boosted our confidence in this rather fearful year.

Launching New Products: Antibacterial Cabling Solution

In times like this, preventing bacterial and viral infection is a must. We launched the Antibacterial Patch Cords this year in hope of reducing food poisoning and contributing to create a safer and cleaner working environment in food, beverage and medical manufacturing and packaging.

We used the standardized ISO 22196 method to measure the antibacterial activity on cables and found that our cables can inhibit the growth of escherichia coli and staphylococcus aureus. These ubiquitous germs can cause vomiting, fever, and serious infections such as pneumonia. For more information about the Antibacterial Cable Series, please contact our digital marketing specialist Yen Hsu (yen@exw.com.tw). She will be more than happy to assist you.

We Protect Ourselves & Others

Wearing a Mask All Day

To ensure everyone’s safety, this policy is strictly implemented. All employees are required to wear masks at all times once entering the building. We discard used face masks properly in several garbage bins and disinfect the bins every day.

Keeping Social Distance

Adhering to social distancing guidelines, we ask our employees to keep social distance while in the office, having meetings, training events, and working on assembly lines. To protect everyone from infection, we start using individual lunch boxes for each person instead of using buffet platters.

Washing Our Hands Frequently

According to the CDC, removing germs through hand washing can reduce diarrhea and respiratory infections. Therefore, we have held several workshops to teach the correct steps of handwashing.

Disinfecting Workspace Regularly

Every employee is required to disinfect the workspace and incoming trucks regularly with diluted hypochlorous acid (HCID). We also disinfect public areas 2-3 times a day, including the dining hall.

Monitoring Health Status

We take body temperature twice a day and keep a detailed log. If anyone is not feeling well, we always advise the person to see a doctor immediately.
